Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – Delicious Drinks

August 20, 2023

Welcome!

I am honored to be part of the Design Team for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge for the month of August. This week, the theme is Delicious Drinks, and I have to admit, I had a few while on vacation last week! Introducing a trio of drinks – my Happy Hour Magnets!

Happy Hour Magnets

I had to travel light last week as I was on a road trip visiting many areas of the US Southwest including Santa Fe, Prescott, the Grand Canyon, and Moab. Not only was my trip beautiful, it was delicious! In addition to being a graphic designer, I also teach art workshops. One class I teach is my “Happy Hour Magnet” class. Here are three magnets that I created for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

I began with a simple 2×2 white or black canvas panel. Magnetic strips were glued on their backs and I did an ombre paint effect on the “Beer” magnet with acrylic paint. The Tim Holtz Happy Hour Thinlit Die Set was the perfect set to create these cuties!

For the “Beer” magnet, I used Distress Ink to highlight the foam. The Sizzix Geometric Mask die set was used to create the blue pattern. I also added some of the negatives. I printed the text on my computer and added some cardstock behind the text to make things pop. Paint accents were from a white Posca paint pen. Foam Tape helped to adhere everything to the small canvas panel.

For “Wine”, I again used a die from the Geometric Mask set along with other various cardstock flowers from a variety of Sizzix dies to create some fun. Pastels in both red and white were used as an accent as well as additional Distress Ink on the wine itself. Sweet!!

Lastly, “Drink” is my take on the classic Martini. Look how cute the Tim Holtz die set is… including the olive! Love it! The purple embossed cardstock is from a Tim Holtz Side-Order and some of the more retro elements were negatives from the Tim Holtz Retro Repeat Die Set. More pastel accents and this time Posca marker dots in gold and some additional die cuts helped to create the final magnet for this nummy drink trio!

There you have it! Delicious Drinks in the form of Happy Hour Magnets. All created while I was on vacation. Sometimes yummy things come in small packages. I do have to confess that I did use the placemat from the coffee bar in my hotel room while at the Grand Canyon as a backdrop. It worked perfectly!

Now it’s your turn! Create your own take on “Delicious Drinks”. I would love to see what everyone comes up with.  Upload your creation to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. You can submit up to 5 submissions giving you 5 chances to win a special $25 voucher to the Simon Says Stamp store.

Stay Creative!
