Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – Birthday

Welcome!

I am honored to be part of the Design Team for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge for the month of August. To begin things off, the first challenge for August is “Birthday” in honor of the Monday Challenge’s 13th birthday. To make this event even sweeter, Simon Say Stamp will be giving away a $50 voucher to the Simon Says Stamp store! Now that’s a birthday treat!

As this is the first challenge of the month, Simon Says Stamp is featuring the wonderful brand of AALL & Create. I love their fun and funky vibe and had fun incorporating their stamps and stencils into this piece.

Mad Birthday Card

Not only is the Monday Challenge celebrating a birthday, but so is my brother! Inspiration for this card came from my little red-haired brother who ironically is only 10 1/2 months younger than me. That is a story for another time, so let’s get into the making of this fun birthday card.

When picking out a card base, the cardstock had a cutout already in it which inspired the “we are all made here” sentiment. The Mad Tea Party Stamps from AALL & Create were the perfect set to create my focal point. I colored in the stamps using the Spectrum Noir TriBlend Brush Market Set.

For the card and the birthday cutout, I used the AALL & Create Weathered Tiles and Totally Dotty stencils. Some Liquitex Flexible Modeling Paste helped with the raised Weathered Tiles. Once dried, I applied a variety of Ranger Distress Inks by Tim Holtz. I JUST LOVE THESE!!

Memento ink and one of my go to Stampers Anonymous stamps along with some Sizzix Oil Pastels helped create details and interest. Sizzix dies and a few other embellishments added to this whimsical card. I just adore the colors, texture, and character.
